Located on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side, Greentree Apartments provide housing to low-income families.  The meticulous upkeep of the buildings and grounds belie traditional stereotypes of low-income housing.

The development is comprised of 264 apartments on nine acres of land.  There are 24 one-bedroom units, 200 two-bedroom units, and 40 three bedroom units.  So great is the need for affordable housing for families, that the waiting list for the larger units can be as long as five years.  Residents pay 30 percent of their income in rent; the remainder is picked up by the federal government.

The Greentree & Teutonia Community Learning Center opened in 1998, providing 22,000 square feet of program space.  Head Start, day care, after-school programs, meal services, and senior activities bring bustling life to this young building in a well-established, low turn-over housing community.
